The Bill Laxon Maritime Library Foundation
The Bill Laxon Maritime Library Foundation is a registered New Zealand charity which principally exists for the following purposes:
- The promotion, advancement, and development of educational opportunities in respect of all aspects of maritime history
- The expansion, accommodation and protection of the present and future Collection (ie the collection of the Library of the NZ National Maritime Museum known as the Bill Laxon Maritime Library, comprising books, pamphlets, periodicals, manuscripts, paintings, drawings, prints, maps (etc)).
- To acquire by purchase, on loan or on trust any material to be held with the Collection.
- To act as a permanent or temporary repository of any item or material suitable to be held in the Collection
- The promotion and funding of research into any area of maritime history or associated with maritime history including the provision of resources and access to the Collection

The Bill Laxon Maritime Library Foundation is independent of the Voyager NZ Maritime Museum (VNZMM) and the Bill Laxon Maritime Library itself and operates under its own trust deed and its own trust board. The Foundation is currently seeking to establish a capital base and welcomes donations. The Foundation is registered with the Department of Inland Revenue as a donee organisation and donations are tax-deductible under New Zealand law.
